IN AND OUT OF MEDITATION....
There is a gap between meditation and the normal state ..When we meditate, we enter into a very relaxed , blissful and luminous and
touch base with the TRUTH. But as soon as we come out of meditation the gross lower level of the mind and the forces of the real world make us regress. For some, the split is so severe that they are completely different beings in meditation and outside of it.
Two opposing forces manifest within us therefore this split is the result of the interplay
The flow of our basic nature is outward and seeks to expand itself in material reality .On the other hand, the direction of higher consciousness is inwards towards the Divine.
In meditation , we are drawn into the direction of higher conciousness. Outside of it , we are governed by our basic nature.
The common solution is usually an attempt to renounce and separate oneself from everyday
life . Such people believe that by limiting themselves to a cave-like existence, they will
become immune from the relapses caused by the forces of nature. Aspirants hope that with
years of reclusive meditation , the splitting of our conciousness will end .But this rarely happens and the split becomes stronger with each passing day.
We have 4 distinct layers .. physical (body)
vitals (emotions and passions) ..mental (mind) and psychic (the divine element within us ).
Meditation is a mental activity in which the
mind is alert and the self becomes silent. But once out of it , other parts become active and function according to their inclinations. The split can be resolved only when we meditate in an active and concious manner .
A person must cultivate an aspiration for progress and meditation should be done to realise this objective. This longing should be so full of intensity that one is unable to think of
anything else. The individual should gather all the different layers of the self and encourage them to concentrate together .This happens when our psychic being takes charge of our
conciousness and when all parts are receptive and work together harmoniously , an intense
concentration is developed....thus the door to higher knowledge is opened and the split heals.
Meditation isn't an activity to be performed at a certain time in a particular manner. The aim should be to spend the day and perform all activities in a meditative stance and to practise concentration on the Divine in all that we do , in all circumstances.
The aim is to arrive at a point where concentration on and remembrance of the DIVINE is effortless and become as central to our existence as breathing.
